FAQ

Platform Basics

  • Scape is a creative UGC platform where players and developers come together to build, share, and explore interconnected experiences in a vibrant ecosystem of community-driven content, events, and achievements. Whether you're crafting your own world or diving into someone else's, Scape is where imagination becomes playable. Learn more at https://www.createyourscape.com/about-scape

  • Scape provides game creators a fully fledged level editor and platform, where games can be created and managed in one place. The level editor will come with all the tools one would expect from using Unity, UEFN or Roblox editor.

  • Not yet. The creation tools are still in development and not publicly available. However, the winning team will be among the first in the world to access the tools and will get to build and publish one of the first full Scape games.

  • Scape is targeted for an Early Access release in 2026.

  • Scape’s primary revenue will come from game and content sales on the platform, similar to other game ecosystems. A key difference is that creators get to choose their own business model, premium, cosmetic‑driven, expansions, season passes, or something new. Over time player behavior + creator ideas will shape what becomes successful on Scape.

  • We’re currently evaluating the exact revenue share model. What we do know is that today’s major UGC platforms such as Roblox and Fortnite, tend to skew revenue heavily toward the platform rather than the developers. Our goal is the opposite: Scape is designed to empower creators, and we’re committed to offering meaningful monetizations models based on the game type that developers are creating.

The Challenge Overview

  • The Scape Indie Challenge is an open competition for indie developers, students, and incubator teams to pitch their vision for a multiplayer 3rd-person platformer game built for the Scape platform. The selected entry will receive up to €30,000 in funding and support to turn their idea into a real game.

  • This is an open contest and everyone is welcome to submit a pitch. Our target audience for this contest are, however, indie developers (solo or teams), game design students at schools and universities as well as incubator program teams. There are no geographic restrictions, except as required for us to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

  • We are looking for:

    • 3rd-person multiplayer platformer

    • Fun, repeatable gameplay over complex mechanics

    • Sessions around 15 minutes, total playtime approx. 10 hours

    • Consider live service elements (new content, evolving complexity)

Pitch & Submissions

  • Your pitch must contain:

    • Game design overview (minute-to-minute gameplay, core loop, meta)

    • Art direction concepts (AI-generated visuals are acceptable)

    • Competitive analysis (similar games in the market)

    • Business model & live service plan

    • Development plan (how you intend to use the funding)

  • The last submission date and time is on Sunday March 1st, 2026 at 23.59 CET.

  • Fill out the submission form above. Make sure you’ve read all the requirements. Provide a link to your pitch deck, and ensure the link allows us to view and download your pitch. We might not access your content unless it is uploaded to either of the following storage providers: OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive or Dropbox.

  • Yes. If you have two great idea's, pitch them both. We judge both the entries as well as the team capability and composition.

  • Since you submitted a cloud link (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.), you can simply update the files in your folder directly. You don't need to send us anything new; we will review whatever version is live at the deadline.

Selection & Prizes

  • There will be two sets of judging panels: one consisting of internal Scape developers who will review the initial pitches and filter down to the top 5 teams and games, and another all star panel consisting of Scape team members as well as game industry veterans will be part of the final selection process. If no submission meets Scape’s standards, we reserve the right to not enter into a development contract. In this case, the top three teams will each receive €1,000.

  • The following criteria will be taken into account with the judging panel:

    • Design

    • Originality

    • Replayability

    • Development plan & Budget

    • Up to €30,000 in funding

    • Creative control and IP ownership

    • All net revenue from sales and engagement of your title

    • Support from the Scape development team

  • You retain all legal rights to the game, including the brand, characters, story etc. You make all creative decisions regarding design and mechanics without platform interference. Because you own the IP, you are never "locked in"; if you choose to take your game to other platforms after the exclusivity period, you are entitled to do so.

  • Funding is up to €30,000, based on your pitch and budget plan. You will be judged on the economics of your project, so request funding wisely. The funding will follow your production plan and payments will be disbursed according to a development contract and milestone schedule.

  • Scape dramatically reduces the cost, complexity, and time required to build and ship a game. Because we operate as a UGC game platform, we take care of all the heavy technical lifting: from networking and multiplayer systems to rendering, asset pipelines, and everything in between. We also handle the frustrating parts of launching and maintaining a live game, including release management, deployment, and core services.

You don’t have to worry about the engine-level details or backend architecture.

Instead, you focus on what matters most: designing gameplay that feels great, crafting visuals that stand out, and bringing your creative vision to life. With Scape, even small teams can build and ship high-quality experiences quickly, without spending years solving the same technical problems from scratch.

Legal & Ownership

  • Yes. You retain full IP ownership of your game.

  • Yes. The selected game will be exclusive to Scape for six months after release. After that, you may publish elsewhere.

  • We view the first six months as a collaborative launch phase. During this window, your game receives a curated spotlight and direct marketing support from Scape that is difficult to find on existing platforms. Combined with the 100% net revenue share for the winner, we feel this is a fair deal.

Development Details

  • Your pitch needs to include the development timeline and cost associated with the project. That development timeline will dictate how long the project will take to make as well as the cost. Please note that since you will be using our development tools and editor to make your game, there are many things your team won't need to develop or do, such as the character controller or the animations.

  • No audio is required for the initial March 1st pitch. We only need to see the gameplay mechanics and vision. Audio is required for the final game.

  • Yes. You may use third-party assets as long as you have the appropriate commercial licenses and comply with all copyright and usage terms. All assets used must be legally obtained and compatible with Scape’s platform requirements.

  • Started: Yes. If you have a prototype on your hard drive that fits the brief, we’d love to see it.
Released: Generally, no. We are looking to fund a project to launch on the Scape platform. If it’s already live on Steam, it likely doesn't fit the "Development Funding" model unless you are pivoting it significantly.

Web3 & Crypto-Technology

  • Scape uses blockchain technology purely as backend infrastructure for verifiable item ownership. You build your game in a familiar, traditional development environment using our creation tools, and players enjoy the experience just like any other game. No Web3 knowledge is required for either creators or players.

  • Upon release, the game will be exclusive to the Scape platform for six (6) months.

  • After the exclusivity period, developers are free to publish, port, and commercialize the game on any other platform.

  • Developers retain full IP ownership of their game at all times.

Immediate Disqualification

Submissions will be disqualified immediately if they include:

  • Work the participant does not own or have all necessary rights to

  • Content that is illegal, hateful, or violates Scape’s platform guidelines
